Tonde Buurin is one of those series where it's rather deceiving at first glance. It's first impression is one that would probably turn most people away from even watching the series. However, it's one of the better magical girl series out there, and it was one of the ones that was requested quite a bit. Those who have watched it all the way knows about the ending, which is a pretty interesting twist considering what happens throughout the series.
This project will be a joint with Stardust Fansubs. We will be providing mostly translation checking and encoding. This project is one of two new joint projects where we will be slightly relaxing our policy on softsubs. The Hi10P encode is softsubbed, while the XviD and the 8-bit h.264 encode is hardsubbed.
There was a question earlier about the licensing status of this series. As far as I know, this series had a English dub by Saban, but it was not available in the United States, and that might not have been fully completed either. Therefore, it is reasonably safe for us to do.

ReplyDeleteThere was a dubbed version aired in the Philippines back in 1997-1998. Fantastically rare, I wish I'd bought a vcr to tape it. I only have crappy copies via my camcorder off the hotel tv.

A version dubbed in Portuguese was released in Brazil and this is an excelent series. It's amazing to see it in fansub form.
