A bit of a question for everyone

This is a question not really related to fansubbing, but more of a personal question that I would like to pose to everyone.

The Les Miserables US tour is coming to around where I live in May, and I would like to purchase tickets to the performance.  As I have never went to a performance of this kind, I would like opinions about what seats I should get.

The concert hall where the performance will be held has a huge "orchestra" lower level seating, a lower balcony above this lower level that wraps around half of the concert hall, and a much higher upper balcony that is above this lower balcony.

Currently, the ticket office for this venue is not selling tickets (they won't start selling until February), but I can get tickets from other ticket vendors.  I can get seats in the back of the upper balcony for about US$70, seats on the sides of the each balcony for about US$150, and seats in front of each balcony and in the front orchestra seats for about US$250.

Basically, which seats should I go for when I purchase my tickets?  (I may purchase multiple tickets depending on what happens.)

This is the last episode of Porphy no Nagai Tabi that we will release this year.  We will resume work on this series on January 3rd, 2012.

Hiatus will begin tomorrow

We will be on hiatus starting tomorrow, and we should be back in operation on January 3rd, 2012.

We do have a release or two almost ready to go tonight right before we go on hiatus.

I also would like to apologize for not responding to e-mails; I simply have not had the time to properly give each e-mail the attention it deserves.

Update

1.  We are approaching our hiatus for the Christmas holidays.  Currently, we anticipate having one more episode of Porphy out and one more episode of My Annette out before the hiatus.  (Due to unexpected circumstances, I have not been able to devote time to translating them this weekend, which is why we don't have that many episodes in the pipeline.)

2.  As mentioned earlier, we'll be off hiatus on January 3rd, 2012.  We may not have anything ready to release then, but we should be back in operation by then.

3.  Porphy episodes 12 and 13 will be released at the same time.  Those two episodes go together and need to be watched together in order for things to make sense.

Little Women II - Jo's Boys Episode 17 released!

That was the only good-bye he gave the boys, for they were all talking the matter over in the barn when he came down, and he told Nat not to call them. The wagon stood at the door, and Mrs. Bhaer came out to speak to Dan, looking so sad that his heart smote him, and he said in a low tone,

"May I say good-bye to Teddy?"

"Yes, dear; go in and kiss him, he will miss his Danny very much."

No one saw the look in Dan's eyes as he stooped over the crib, and saw the little face light up at first sight of him, but he heard Mrs. Bhaer say pleadingly,

"Can't we give the poor lad one more trial, Fritz?" and Mr. Bhaer answer in his steady way,

"My dear, it is not best, so let him go where he can do no harm to others, while they do good to him, and by and by he shall come back, I promise you."

- Little Men, Chapter 6

This episode is the aftermath of what happened at the end of episode 16.

Winter 2012 anime season

We currently have no plans to do a series in the Winter 2012 anime season.  None of the series listed meet our requirements for us to even consider doing them.

On a more short term note, we do have Little Women II episode 17 almost ready to go, with Porphy no Nagai Tabi 10 not far behind.

December scheduling

On a more short term note, we do have some Porphy episodes just about ready to go, which will be released tonight.

As this is December, we will be ramping down our operations for the Christmas holidays.  As currently planned, we will probably go on hiatus starting December 21st, and will resume operations on January 2nd.  However, these dates may shift depending on how the schedule of my staff members pans out within the next couple of weeks.

We will try to have at least a couple more episodes of My Annette out before the hiatus (Episode 4 is about to go into encoding; I need to check it first).  My translator for Little Women II - Jo's Boys has given me the script for episode 17, and that should be out fairly soon as well.  I will check with the Wasurenai QC folks on the status of episode 10 of Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch Pure, which happens to be one of my very favorites in the series.  Porphy's Long Journey we can probably get close to the 1/4 mark, which I admit is not the best place to leave people in suspense.

In conclusion, this month will be fairly light in terms of releases.

My Annette Episode 3 released!

"Your little brother," echoed her mother's weak voice. "He is yours, Annette. Bring him up and love him and look after him for me. I give him to you."

Her voice trailed away and she closed her eyes. Annette, too dazed to speak, allowed herself to be lead downstairs by the nurse. She sat down on a stool by the stove to rock the wooden cradle where her Christmas present lay smothered in shawls and blankets.

- Treasures of the Snow, Chapter 1

In this episode, Annette takes care of her mother during her sudden illness.

Hiatus for Thanksgiving holiday

A large portion of our staff members will be either out of town or busy with work for the Thanksgiving holiday.  Because of that, we will be on hiatus starting from November 24th.  We should have at least one Porphy episode out before the hiatus.

We will resume our regular release schedule on November 27th.

As a side note, it was a little over a year today when we started subbing A Little Princess Sara, the first World Masterpiece Theater series that we took on as a project.  Goodness, how time flies!

Porphy's Long Journey Episode 3 released!

In this episode, Porphy and Mina go to pick up their father at the bus station.  There's one small problem, though; they aren't aware that the buses never run on time, and consequently the buses don't arrive on time either.

Expectations for My Annette

My Annette was also one of the series that was requested a lot (about as much as Porphy's Long Journey), and we're proud to work on this series as well.

This series is an adaptation of Patricia St. John's novel, "Treasures of the Snow".  The novel does have a Christian bias to it, but the message that it tries to convey is universal to all creeds.  Basically, without spoiling too much of the plot, what the series tries to convey is the concept of forgiveness and healing.  What happens in the series will test those concepts in ways most adults will probably never deal with, let alone children.

Because of what happens in this series, we anticipate this will be one of our more difficult series that we will work on.  It's about as dramatic and emotional as A Little Princess Sara, and we hope we can finish it, as the story and the plot is probably one of the most solid and moving in all of literature.

My Annette Episode 2 released!

This episode features lots of fun in the snow, including riding on sleds, snowball fights, and how does one get to school in the snow.

Expectations for Porphy's Long Journey

As per my usual practice, I would like to personally tell everyone our expectations for Porphy's Long Journey.

I've already have it translated up to episode 4, and I've watched it pretty far down the line past that.  It is no wonder that this series was probably one of the most frequently requested series for our group to sub.  To this day, it is a mystery to me why very few groups even considered doing it.

This series is the adaptation of Paul-Jacques Bonzon's novel, "The Orphans of Simitra".  I have access to an English translation to the novel as reference.  What I can tell you is the anime does add a lot of characters, and gives names for characters who were not named in the book. (Porphy's mother is one of those examples.)  The general plot of the anime is similar to the novel, but considering the length of the novel (it's actually about as long as "A Little Princess"), there's a lot of embellishment in the anime.  We will try to keep within the spirit of the novel as much as possible.

Overall, this series is a bit of a departure from the series which we normally work on, but we hope we can do it justice.

Porphy's Long Journey Episode 2 released!

In this episode, Porphy and Mina get a parcel from their father.  Later that night, they see an owl up in their room.

Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch Pure Episode 9 released!

NOTE: The correct CRC checksum for the Hi10P version is "269A10A8".  The CRC is not correct in the filename due to a copy/paste error on my part.  We apologize for the inconvenience.

In this episode, Hanon and Nagisa end up getting into another disagreement when Hanon attempts to play the music that Mitsuki-sensei composed for her.  A new enemy, Lady Bat, appears, and the song, played by Kaito, is the key to getting out of the jam that the Mermaid Princesses were placed.

Little Women II - Jo's Boys Episode 16 released!

Dan did try for a day or two, but not being used to it, he soon tired and relapsed into his old wilful ways. Mr. Bhaer was called from home on business one day, and the boys had no lessons. They liked this, and played hard till bedtime, when most of them turned in and slept like dormice. Dan, however, had a plan in his head, and when he and Nat were alone, he unfolded it.

"Look here!" he said, taking from under his bed a bottle, a cigar, and a pack of cards, "I'm going to have some fun, and do as I used to with the fellows in town. Here's some beer, I got if of the old man at the station, and this cigar; you can pay for 'em or Tommy will, he's got heaps of money and I haven't a cent. I'm going to ask him in; no, you go, they won't mind you."

- Little Men, Chapter 6

In this episode, Professor Bhaer is gone for a couple of days.  Unfortunately, with him gone, Dan succumbs to temptation and drags Nat and Tommy into it as well.  The consequences of the actions affects more than just the three of them...
