Update on the unannounced secret project and what happens after Sara

Let me refer you to this post, where we announced what we were planning to do.

As we mentioned earlier, we were going to pick two of these series to do for our next set of projects.  We have already picked Sara and have made substantial progress.

The secret project is going to be the second series that we picked from this list.  However, let us cross off two series off that list.

We will not be doing the Denshin Mamotte Shugogetten OVA for the second series.  It somehow slipped our minds that Miyuki already did that series somehow, which is quite embarrassing for us.

Secondly, we will not be doing A Dog of Flanders for the second series.  I know that a lot of people will be disappointed at this.  The reasoning is that doing A Little Princess Sara is very emotionally draining on our staff members and myself.  We cannot possibly do two series that close together that require us to be emotionally involved.  We already have the DVDs ready to go, however; we can probably jump on that after we get a couple more uplifting series under our belts.

Therefore, the two remaining series left are Pastel Yumi and Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch Pure.  We're going mahou shoujo for the secret project.  We already have the first five episodes translated, but unfortunately unexpected setbacks have hindered our progress through this series, which is why we have not released any episodes yet.  We apologize for keeping everyone in suspense.

As for what we do after A Little Princess Sara, what I can tell you is that it will be another WMT series that aired before 2000.  We've already selected the series, and I've already got the DVDs imported.

  1. ...I kinda figured Dog of Flanders wouldn't be picked. Thankfully you guys are putting it off for the right reasons. I can understand how much work a 46-52 episode series can be. You guys do such great work for Little Princess Sara and we appreciate it greatly. You guys need a break too, y'know? But still, Dog of Flanders is such a great series. It would've been nice to see the series subbed. But health and heart come first, and I respect that.

Yay! Mahou shoujo! I've suddenly developed a craving for mahou shoujo anime thanks to Heartcatch Precure (I seriously need to get back into Card Captor Sakura). I think Pastel Yumi might be up your alley. It's short (26 episodes), sweet, and happy-looking too. Perfect for you guys! But still, we wish you all the best! Good luck, Licca Subs! May you all be blessed with joy and our gratitude!

  2. Very few series are emotional roller coasters like Sara or A Dog of Flanders. Since I already imported the raws for all the series we were considering, they will get used for good somehow.

I'm personally hoping that I could use the remaining series for recruitment of new staff members. Right now, I'm holding off on that until we finish Sara because it would boost our reputation and track record so we can get the best people we can find, since the people we need don't usually join the upstart groups that don't do the latest and greatest.

Now, if I can get all those mecha anime translators to work for my group...

  4. First let me thank you for the amazing job your doing on Little Princess Sarah, releasing it at godly pace.

I adore shoujo anime, expecially heavy and dramatic one like Sara. My all time favorite is probably Brother dear Brother, a true masterpiece that combine 3 of the greatest force in anime history, Ryoko Ikeda, Osamu Dezaki and Akio Sugino.

I would be delighted if your next project were Dog of flanders but I totaly I agree, understand and respect your decision to go for something less emotionaly engaging for your new project. About magical girl show, I gotta admit I usualy prefer realistic shoujo but I've seen some pretty ones: Fullmoon wo Sagashite, Utakata, Miracle Girl, Nurse Angel Ririka SOS, at some extent Sailor Moon so I'm interested in your future project of a mahou shoujo. In the two I would say Mahou no Idol Pastel Yumi seem the more promising as it was made in the glorious age of magical show, the '80's.

As for what will be succeded to Sarah, I can wait to see witch WMT will be. :)

Thanks again for your mesmerizing works! I wish you could get some of the mecha translator to contribute to the old school shoujo and WMT cause!

  7. Thank you for the WMT goodness. You are probably one of the best fan sub groups I've seen. You're probably the best thing to ever happen to us, WMT fans.
