Expectations for Happy Kappi

Over the last few years, the vast majority of the newer anime didn't really hook me.  There were a few (Les Miserables, Porphy, and Konnichiwa Anne were on that short list), but most didn't really stick.

I tend to be very picky when it comes to choosing anime to watch, and on that list, series that I would like to sub.  Happy Kappi is a series that made me so happy that I just had to translate it.

In addition, the series, from my first impression, is compatible with what Licca Fansubs does.  It involves magic.  It involves slice of life scenarios.  It involves no perversion that I can see from the first episode.  In addition, no one has undertaken the task to sub it, and it's likely that most of the other groups won't touch this.

The one stumbling block we anticipate is raw availability.  If we are unable to get more broadcast raws, we'll have to wait until DVDs or BDs are released.

For now, enjoy Happy Kappi... and be sure to bring lots of donuts with you.

  1. I LOVE donuts (especially plain chocolate ones)! But this sure wasn't expected. But if you guys want to do it, go ahead. I'm not stopping you. If you guys like it, then that's okay.

But if there's one children's mahou shoujo(?) anime I feel needs to be subbed, its Jewelpet. Particularly the first series. It looks like a really sweet show. Plus it looks like it'd definitely be right up your alley. But I know you guys have other projects to do, so I won't push it. Best of luck to you, Licca Subs!

  2. I agree with Julia that the first jewelpet should be subbed. It has magic and is a good show to watch.

  3. I think it would be better to wait for BD release.

Honestly, i don't think there is any real problem in subbing newer anime but at the moment, i think it would be better to catch up for much older anime :)Personally, i am interested in Magical Idol Pastel Yumi and Magical Emi, the Magic Star.

  4. There's so much old unsubbed shoujo anime out there. We'll try to make a substantial dent in that, but without more people subbing those series, and the fact that I could probably count the number of active groups doing them on my hands....

Yeah, I know about Jewelpet. I think what will happen is that some other group will sub that and make a name for themselves, as we did with some of the series we did.

  5. Thank you so much for subbing this! The animation is really interesting in this but I agree with you that this show just makes me feel happy inside when I watch it. x3 Yeah, it would be awesome if some of the older shoujo anime got subbed like, Alice SOS, Fushigi Mahou Fan Fan Pharmacy, the First Jewel Pet series, etc. Anyway, thanks for taking this series on! I was afraid that nobody would bother with this one.

  6. Thanks alot for those who like this one! Even if I gotta admit I'm not one those who like that particular one, I totally respect and understand your choice of unleashed this anime! It's true that theres alot of unsubbed shoujo anime and that great passionnate and devoted group like Licca Fansub are unfortunatly that they are not very numerous. There so many old school shoujo Gem that still unsubed, expecially non magical dramatic one like Ace Wo Nerae 2, Ace Wo Nerae Final Stage, Nightsong of Splendor, Haikara San Ga Tooru .... Anyway thanks alot to keep the flame of Shoujo anime alive!

  7. You beat me to the punch! I was going to sub this, but the only raw I could find, a torrent, was inactive. T__T So, good for you. I respect the work Licca is doing. Keep it up. :D
