"She looked so hungry," she said. "She was even hungrier than I was."
"She was starving," said the woman. "Many's the time she's told me of it since--how she sat there in the wet, and felt as if a wolf was a-tearing at her poor young insides."
"Oh, have you seen her since then?" exclaimed Sara. "Do you know where she is?"
"Yes, I do," answered the woman, smiling more good-naturedly than ever. "Why, she's in that there back room, miss, an' has been for a month; an' a decent, well-meanin' girl she's goin' to turn out, an' such a help to me in the shop an' in the kitchen as you'd scarce believe, knowin' how she's lived."
She stepped to the door of the little back parlor and spoke; and the next minute a girl came out and followed her behind the counter. And actually it was the beggar-child, clean and neatly clothed, and looking as if she had not been hungry for a long time. She looked shy, but she had a nice face, now that she was no longer a savage, and the wild look had gone from her eyes. She knew Sara in an instant, and stood and looked at her as if she could never look enough.
- A Little Princess, chapter 19
In the last chapter of the novel, you will recall that Sara returns to the bakery where she gave most of her bread to that beggar girl in the street. This episode is where this happens.
You can obtain this episode from your standard anime torrent indexing sites.
This concludes our work on A Little Princess Sara. We hope that you enjoyed this series as much as we had working on it.
I would like to personally make a few concluding remarks.
I have been in the fansubbing scene for a pretty long time, and I personally have worked on many series. This is probably the most difficult project that I have ever been involved with. It is also probably one of the most emotionally charged and moving stories that I have ever had the pleasure to work on.
I would also like to say that completing this series is a huge milestone for Licca Fansubs. With the release of this last episode, Licca Fansubs joins a very short list of English fansubbers that has been able to complete a World Masterpiece Theater series. We hope that we can continue our work and make sure that these wonderful stories become known to the anime community at large.
In addition, I would like to say that without the support of everyone, we would have never even heard of the series, let alone be able to work on it. I personally would like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart that you have given us the honor of working on probably one of the crown jewels of anime.
